Zopapogene imadenovec is used in adults to treat a certain type of tumor that keeps coming back in the nose, throat, and lungs called recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP).

Side Effects

What are the side effects of Zopapogene Imadenovec (Subcutaneous)?

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Some side effects may occur during or right after the injection. Tell your doctor right away if you have:

  • bruising, swelling, warmth, redness, oozing, or bleeding where an injection was given;
  • signs of infection--fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, bruising or bleeding;
  • signs of a stroke--sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side of the body), severe headache, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance;
  • signs of a blood clot in the lung--chest pain, sudden cough or shortness of breath, dizziness, coughing up blood; or
  • signs of a blood clot deep in the body--pain, swelling, or warmth in one leg.

Common side effects may include:

  • pain, bruising, swelling, or irritation where the medicine was injected;
  • tiredness;
  • fever, chills, increased sweating, muscle pain;
  • fast heart rate;
  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; or
  • headache.

What drugs and food should I avoid while taking Zopapogene Imadenovec (Subcutaneous)?

Avoid touching or scratching the injection site and dressings for about 24 hours after treatment.

Dosage Guidelines & Tips

How to take Zopapogene Imadenovec (Subcutaneous)?

Use Zopapogene Imadenovec (Subcutaneous) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets.

Zopapogene imadenovec is injected under the skin. A healthcare provider will give you this injection.

Zopapogene imadenovec is given as a series of four injections over about 12 weeks. Your doctor will determine your treatment schedule.

You will need surgery to remove papillomas before your first dose. If any are found before the third and fourth doses, your doctor may remove them again.

You will be watched for a short time to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction.

You may be given a cold compress or other medications to help prevent serious side effects or allergic reactions. Keep taking these medicines for as long as your doctor has prescribed.

You or your caregiver should practice proper hand hygiene when coming into direct contact with your body waste for 1 to 2 weeks after receiving zopapogene imadenovec. Place any materials that may have your body fluids or waste (such as used dressings, tissues, or diapers) in a sealed plastic bag and dispose of them in the regular trash.

Call your doctor for instructions if you miss an appointment for your zopapogene imadenovec injection.

Overdose Signs

What happens if I overdose on Zopapogene Imadenovec (Subcutaneous)?

In a medical setting an overdose would be treated quickly.
