Brimonidine and brinzolamide ophthalmic (for the eyes) is a combination medicine used to treat open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high pressure inside the eye).
Brimonidine and brinzolamide ophthalmic reduces the amount of fluid in the eye, which decreases pressure inside the eye.
Brimonidine and brinzolamide ophthalmic may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

What is the most important information I should know about Simbrinza (Brimonidine And Brinzolamide Ophthalmic)?
You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to brimonidine or brinzolamide.
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had:
- an allergy to sulfa drugs;
- congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, history of stroke or blood clot;
- high or low blood pressure;
- circulation problems, such as Raynaud's syndrome (numbness or cold feeling in your fingers or toes);
- depression;
- narrow-angle glaucoma; or
- severe liver or severe kidney disease.
It is not known if brimonidine and brinzolamide will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Ask a doctor if it is safe to breastfeed while using this medicine.
Brimonidine and brinzolamide ophthalmic should not be given to a child younger than 2 years old.

What are the side effects of Simbrinza (Brimonidine And Brinzolamide Ophthalmic)?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:
- signs of eye infection--swelling, redness, severe discomfort, crusting or drainage;
- symptoms of liver failure--diarrhea, loss of appetite, pain or swelling in your stomach, swelling in your legs, easy bleeding, drowsiness, confusion, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
- bone marrow suppression--sudden weakness or ill feeling, fever, chills, sore throat, mouth sores, red or swollen gums, trouble swallowing, pale skin, feeling light-headed or short of breath, rapid heart rate, trouble concentrating; or
- severe skin reaction--fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.
Common side effects may include:
- blurred vision;
- mild itching, redness, or irritation of your eyes;
- dry mouth; or
- unpleasant taste in your mouth.

This medicine may cause blurred vision and may impair your reactions. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you.
Dosage Guidelines & Tips
How to take Simbrinza (Brimonidine And Brinzolamide Ophthalmic)?
Use Simbrinza (Brimonidine And Brinzolamide Ophthalmic) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Do not use while wearing soft contact lenses. A preservative in this medicine could permanently stain the lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes before inserting your contact lenses.
Wash your hands before using eye medication.
Shake the eye drops before each use.
To apply the eye drops: Pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket and squeeze a drop into this pocket. Close your eyes for 1 or 2 minutes.
Use only the prescribed number of drops.
Wait at least 5 minutes before using any other eye drops.
Do not touch the dropper tip or place it directly on your eye. A contaminated dropper can infect your eye and lead to serious vision problems.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any eye injury or infection, or if you need to have any type of surgery, especially eye surgery.
Store at room temperature, in an upright position and tightly closed. Do not freeze. Call your pharmacist if the medicine looks cloudy, has changed colors or has particles in it.
Use the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
