Roflumilast topical cream (for the skin) is used to treat plaque psoriasis or mild to moderate eczema (atopic dermatitis) in adults and children at least 6 years old.

Roflumilast topical foam (for the skin) is used to treat seborrheic dermatitis in adults and children at least 9 years old.

Roflumilast topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

You should not use roflumilast topical if you have:

  • liver problems.

It is not known if roflumilast topical will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

Ask a doctor if it is safe to breastfeed while using this medicine.

If you breastfeed, avoid applying this medicine to your nipple area. Apply to the smallest skin area and for the shortest amount of time possible to treat your condition.

If you apply this medicine to your chest, avoid areas that may come into contact with the baby.

Side Effects

What are the side effects of Roflumilast Topical (Topical)?

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Common side effects may include:

  • diarrhea, nausea or vomiting;
  • pain at site of application;
  • sleep problems (insomnia);
  • pain and burning when you urinate;
  • headache; or
  • cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat.

Dosage Guidelines & Tips

How to take Roflumilast Topical (Topical)?

Use Roflumilast Topical (Topical) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Roflumilast topical is applied once per day. Follow your doctor's instructions.

Do not use in your mouth, eyes, or genitals. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.

Apply a thin layer of medication to the affected skin or scalp and gently rub in completely. Make sure the area is not wet before applying the medicine.

Wash your hands after applying this medicine, unless you are using it to treat a hand condition.

Shake the foam well before each use.

Roflumilast topical foam is flammable. Do not use near high heat or open flame. Do not smoke until the foam has completely dried on your skin.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Store the foam upright away from open flame or high heat. Do not puncture, burn, or freeze the foam canister.

Apply the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not apply two doses at one time.
