Bifidobacterium and lactobacillus is used as a probiotic that contains "good bacteria" to help keep the normal balance of microorganisms and prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in the stomach and intestines.
Bifidobacterium and lactobacillus may also help maintain a healthy balance of good bacteria in the vagina.
Bifidobacterium and lactobacillus likely effective in alternative medicine as an aid in treating upset stomach.
It is not certain whether bifidobacterium and lactobacillus is effective in treating any medical condition. Medicinal use of this product has not been approved by the FDA. Bifidobacterium and lactobacillus should not be used in place of medication prescribed for you by your doctor.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor if you have:
- signs of infection--fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, bruising or bleeding; or
- vaginal itching or discharge.
Although not all side effects are known, bifidobacterium and lactobacillus is thought to be likely safe for most people when used as directed.

How to take Lactovive (Oral)?
Use Lactovive (Oral) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
If you choose to use bifidobacterium and lactobacillus, use it as directed on the package or as directed by the doctor, pharmacist, or other healthcare provider. You may also consider consulting a practitioner who is trained in the use of herbal/health supplements. Do not use more of this product than is recommended on the label.
Your dose needs may change if you switch to a different strength or brand form of this product. Avoid medication errors by using exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Check your product label to see whether you should take it with or without food.
Swallow the tablet or capsule whole and do not crush, open, break, or dissolve it.
You must chew the chewable tablet before you swallow it.
Read and carefully follow the instructions for mixing and taking the oral powder.
Mix the oral powder with cold foods or liquids (applesauce, yogurt, milk, juice) and eat this mixture right away. Do not save for later use.
Shake the oral liquid. Measure a dose with the supplied measuring device (not a kitchen spoon).
Call your doctor if you develop signs of infection. Bifidobacterium and lactobacillus is not a replacement for an antibiotic or antifungal medication.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. You may need to store the product in a refrigerator. Heat or humidity may affect the live bacteria in this product, making it less effective.
Some brand forms of bifidobacterium and lactobacillus are stable for only a certain number of days or weeks after being opened. Throw away any medicine not used within that time. Talk to your pharmacist if you have any questions.
Skip the missed dose and take the next regularly scheduled dose.
