Generic Name:Zongertinib

Zongertinib is used in adults to treat non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer.

Zongertinib is used when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, cannot be removed by surgery, or when other cancer treatments did not work or have stopped working.

Your doctor will make sure you have the correct tumor type to be treated with zongertinib.

Zongertinib may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

What is the most important information I should know about Hernexeos (Oral)?

Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had:

  • heart problems;
  • lung or breathing problems other than lung cancer; or
  • liver disease.

You may need to have a negative pregnancy test before starting this treatment.

May harm an unborn baby. Do not use if you are pregnant. Use effective birth control while using zongertinib and for at least 2 weeks after your last dose. Tell your doctor if you become pregnant.

Zongertinib may affect fertility in men or women. Pregnancy could be harder to achieve while either parent is using this medicine.

Do not breastfeed while using this medicine, and for at least 2 weeks after your last dose.

Side Effects

What are the side effects of Hernexeos (Oral)?

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • severe or ongoing diarrhea;
  • sudden chest pain, wheezing, dry cough;
  • heart problems--swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath; or
  • liver problems--loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain (upper right side), tiredness, itching, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

Your cancer treatments may be changed, delayed, or permanently discontinued if you have certain side effects.

Common side effects may include:

  • nausea, diarrhea;
  • skin rash;
  • liver problems;
  • feeling tired; or
  • abnormal blood tests.

Dosage Guidelines & Tips

How to take Hernexeos (Oral)?

Use Hernexeos (Oral) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Your doctor will perform tests to make sure zongertinib is the right treatment for you.

Do not change your dose or stop taking this medicine without your doctor's advice.

Zongertinib is usually taken once per day with or without food, at the same time each day.

Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not crush, chew, or break it.

If you vomit shortly after taking zongertinib, do not take another dose. Take your next dose as scheduled.

You may need frequent medical tests including tests to check your liver and heart function. Your cancer treatments may be changed, delayed, or discontinued based on the results.

You may be given other medications to help prevent serious side effects. Keep taking these medicines for as long as your doctor has prescribed.

Keep the medicine in the original container, along with the packet or canister of moisture-absorbing preservative. Store tightly closed at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Throw away the medicine within 3 months of first opening the bottle, even if there is still medicine left inside.

Take the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule if your next dose is due in less than 12 hours. Do not take two doses at one time.
