About
Alex O’Meara is an award‑winning journalist and author. He wrote Chasing Medical Miracles: The Promise and Perils of Clinical Trials and has worked for the City News Bureau of Chicago, Newsday, the Baltimore Sun (Washington, DC), and an NBC affiliate in Tucson.
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes decades ago, O’Meara participated in an islet cell transplant clinical trial in 2006. He has completed multiple marathons, completed an MFA at the University of Texas at El Paso, and continues to work on memoir and fiction projects while contributing to diabetes-focused outlets.
